dSLR Case Interchangeable Ports for SONY DIGITAL CAMERAS

Standard Port System: Our Standard Port System is a series of optical grade acrylic ports which provide exceptional quality at an affordable price. Each model is a complete port of a fixed length. These ports are less expensive, but different ports are generally required for additional lenses.

Use 5509.28: The "Use 5509.28" column refers to the larger diameter zoom sleeve and clamp set that is included with all dSLR housings. Lenses without this designation will operate with the standard zoom sleeve and clamp set, also included with all dSLR housings. Zoom sleeves and clamps are not interchangeable between sets.

Dome Ports: Recommended for wide angle lenses, zoom lenses, and 1:1 macro lenses to eliminate vignetting. Standard and telephoto lenses will not benefit by using a dome. The dome port corrects for the refraction effects of water to maintain the same coverage angle underwater as above water.
Port Recommendations: A longer port may be required to stack filters or close-up lenses. Check lens measurements as described on the SLR Port Specifications page to confirm these recommendations.

Modular Port System: Our Modular Port System allows you to build dome and flat ports out of universal components. The interchangeable port bodies and extensions combine to create endless combinations for maximum versatility and performance. All port bodies listed in this chart require the 5510.45 8" Dome Assembly to make a complete port.

+4 Diopter Required: The addition of a close-up lens is required for many zoom lenses to operate underwater behind a dome port. Any lens that does not focus to 12" (30cm) requires the use of a +4 diopter, available from any camera store.

A diopter is not required for lenses that focus to 12" (30cm), but a +2 Diopter may be added for improved corner sharpness.
Flat Ports: Recommended for standard, macro, and telephoto lenses as these lenses benefit from the refractive effects of water. The flat lens on the port magnifies the underwater subject to appear closer and larger.

Note that if a port is long enough to accommodate the full length of a 1:1 macro lens, the lens may vignette when used at infinity. If access to the lens' full range is desired, then select a dome port instead.
